Continuing the conversation that u/htt-papi started last week. We are teaming up with Clean Bushwick Initiative to clean the block this Sat! All supplies are provided! See flyer below if you live on the block. However, this doesn’t have to be on our block only. There is a more general cleanup starting at Myrtle/Wyckoff going down Wyckoff, 10:00am-12:00pm this coming Sat, June 1st and you can sign up here. Or organize a few people from your block and Clean Bushwick will be more than happy to help you with supplies. Organize your block! Get to know your neighbors! As for the tea – I spoke to Nicole De Santis from Clean Bushwick. First of, this woman is amazing and has been cleaning up our streets for the past 8 years. I’m sure many of you know her and volunteered with them in the past. She says that the main complaints that are made to 311 in Bushwick are about noise and double parking. Not enough complaints are made about littering and rodents, so they don’t prioritize that as much. Also, when you make a complaint to 311 you can email the case number to one of our two neighborhood’s council members – Jennifer Gutiérrez for district 34, and Sandy Nurse for district 37. Nicole says they are both great to work with and will help us. WE NEED TO KEEP REPORTING. Find out which one is your district and report to these emails: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Lastly, if there is a business/building that litters on a regular basis – make sure to report them with exact address + picture/video. You can do so on the 311 app. If we keep persisting they will be fined and hopefully take accountability for the sh*t they leave outside for the rats to enjoy.
