Subway Service Changes:

  • Subways are running on a Saturday schedule. No B, W, Z service.

  • In Brooklyn, 2, 3 skips Clark St in both directions on Jul 4, Friday, 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM

  • In Brooklyn, late night 3 replaces 4 service to/from New Lots Av from Jul 4 – 7, Fri to Mon, Overnight

  • In the Bronx, no 5 between Dyre Av and E 180 St – use shuttle buses instead (Map)

  • In the Bronx, Manhattan-bound 6 skips Longwood Av, E 149 St, E 143 St, Cypress Av and Brook Av from Jul 4 – 7, Fri 9:45 PM to Mon 5:00 AM. All trains board from the uptown platform at 3 Av-138 St.

  • On Friday, July 4, subways and buses will run on a Saturday schedule, including extended Rockaway Park Shuttle service to Rockaway Blvd (A).

  • In the evening, A, C, F, 2, 4 service will run more frequently and N trains will run on the R between Canal St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to accommodate higher ridership to the Macy’s fireworks display. 2, 3 trains won’t stop at Clark St from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.


LIRR Service Changes:

  • LIRR trains run on a weekend schedule on Independence Day

  • Montauk Branch trains run on a Saturday schedule on Independence Day

  • City Terminal Zone: You must be in the first four cars to exit westbound trains at Forest Hills.

  • Far Rockaway, Long Beach: The Valley Stream Station Escalator and adjacent stairs are out of service due to station construction.

  • On Wednesday, July 2, the LIRR will run an extra evening train from Penn Station to Montauk.

  • On Thursday, July 3, the LIRR will run on a summer Friday schedule, with an extra evening train from Jamaica to Montauk.

  • On Friday, July 4, the LIRR will run on a Saturday schedule, with off-peak fares valid on all trains.

  • On Sunday, July 6, the LIRR will run an extra evening train from Montauk to Jamaica.


Metro-North Service Changes:

  • The Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines run on a Sunday schedule on Independence Day

  • The Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines run on a weekend schedule on Independence Day

  • Hudson: Stairs, ramps and sidewalk replacements are underway at New Hamburg. Customers still have access to Tracks 1 and 2 via temporary ramps and stairs.

  • An extra train departs Port Jervis at 4:05pm, arriving Hoboken at 6:24pm.

  • On Thursday, July 3:

    • Metro-North will run on a Friday schedule on all three East of Hudson lines. Peak service will be adjusted and afternoon getaway trains will be added.
    • The Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines will run on a weekday schedule. Peak service will be adjusted and one afternoon getaway train will be added on the Port Jervis Line.
  • On Friday, July 4:

    • Metro-North will run on a Sunday schedule on all three East of Hudson lines, with two extra New Haven Line trains in the evening. Off-peak tickets will be valid on all trains.
    • The Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines will run on a weekend schedule, with one additional train on the Port Jervis Line.

Macy’s Annual 4th of July Fireworks happen Tuesday, July 4, 2025 at 9:25 p.m and last for about 30 minutes.

This year, the fireworks display will take place on four barges positioned along the lower East River between Pier 17 & the Downtown Manhattan Heliport. There will be viewing areas along the East River in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Heights.

ADA viewing will be available at the Murry Bergtraum Softball Field with access at Pike Slip & Cherry Street.

Public viewing in Brooklyn Bridge Park and designated sections of Pier 16 and Pier 17 at The Seaport will be accessible only via free tickets issued by the City of New York.

The following entry points are:

  • Broad Street at Water Street Map

  • Enter near Pearl Street at Robert F. Wagner St. Place and head toward locations along the FDR Drive Map

  • Murry Bergtraum Softball Field (ADA) Map

  • Montgomery Street at Madison Street Map

The following NYC locations are not recommended for viewing:

  • Areas of the FDR in Midtown

  • The Battery

  • Battery Park City

  • East River Park

  • Hunter’s Point South Waterfront Park

  • Roosevelt Island

  • Governors Island

  • Gantry Plaza State Park

How to get to the fireworks

  • These subway stations are nearest the entrances to the official viewing areas:

    • Borough Hall/Court St (N, R, 2, 3, 4)
    • Bowling Green (4, 5)
    • Broad St (J)
    • Chambers St (J)
    • East Broadway (F)
    • Fulton St (A, C, J, 2, 3, 4, 5)
    • High St (A, C)
    • Whitehall St-South Ferry (N, R, 1)

Trains won’t stop at Clark St 2, 3 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Buses that will serve the viewing areas include the M15-SBS, M15, M20, M22, M55, B25, B61, and B63.

Please be advised of the following:

  • For viewing the fireworks display at Brooklyn Bridge Park, NYC Mayor’s Office of Citywide Events will issue tickets for viewers. ONLY THOSE WITH A TICKET WILL BE ALLOWED ENTRY INTO BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK ON JULY 4 AT 6:30PM.

    • Sections of Brooklyn Bridge Park will be closed all day July 4.
      • The Greenway, Dog Runs, Restrooms, and Playgrounds will be open until 3:30PM.
    • All of Brooklyn Bridge Park will close at 3:30PM on July 4 and reopen for those with a NYC-issued fireworks viewing ticket at 6:30pm.
    • NYPD will “freeze” the local area beginning at 2PM July 4. Furman Street will be closed.
  • All park concessions will close to the public at 2PM. (Jane’s Carousel; OddFellows Ice Cream Co.; Van Leeuwen Ice Cream; Luke’s Lobster; High Tide; Fornino)

  • NYC Ferry service will stop running to Brooklyn Bridge Park (Pier 6 and Pier 1) at 3PM
