One of my favorite things about living in Ridgewood was the handpainted doors of old walkups throughout the neighborhood. Don’t know how many are left, but there are faces painted into many of them in the fake woodgrain pattern, some look like owls. Anyone ever noticed them? Must have been some tradesmans signature or maybe protective, but regret never getting photos of them. Mainly around the Bushwick border off Wyckoff/ St. Nicholas Ave.
