i’m in a band called Cat Crash and i run a concert series called “Riot Grrrl’s Not Dead!” where i gather a bunch of riot grrrl/queercore bands, have a zine fair/zineswap, and set them loose upon a city. one year ago was our RGND show in New York City at Trans-Pecos. this was the biggest undertaking i’d ever taken in my life at the time and i was extremely stressed out about it– i was worried we would not get enough people to the show. the day before the show i went to a destroy boys concert and handed out flyers there! that morning i woke up to a barrage of texts of people telling me they last minute could not make it, including one of the bands. nonetheless, the show had to go on. the show was wonderful beyond my wildest dreams. i am so grateful for the people who showed up and who continue to show up in my life today. being in the riot grrrl community has led me to the deepest connections i’ve had in my life. some riot grrrl-adjacent bands for you to check out: Lady Lychee, Indeyevid, Jack Flowers & the Petaltones, Film & Gender, showgirl my indie collective is called bubbleteagrunge and we’re on instagram/tiktok submitted by /u/cecilqyang to r/punk |
