Most Underrated Food Neighborhoods

What do folks think are some of the neighborhoods that don’t get enough love for being foodie havens? Some that come to mind for me:

– Broadway Triangle/Myrtle-Wyckoff/”J-Z Corridor”: Great spots include Mao Mao (Thai), Little Mo (Vietnamese), Santa Panza (Italian), Ornithology Jazz Club (drinks), Masquerade (Persian), Winona’s (Eclectic). Everything feels like a hidden gem under the Broadway ‘el for some reason – RIP Bar Velo.

– Rego Park: Tons of interesting options for Ashkenazy-influenced Eastern European restaurants – Marani (kosher Georgian), a cluster of Uzbek restaurants along 63rd Drive, and an incredible hot bar at the local outpost of Tashkent Supermarket

– East Harlem: These days it’s a mix of all sorts of interesting options, ranging from some of the classic Dominican and Borinquen spots (especially love Santiago’s Beer Garden for good vibes, drinks and cuchifritos), Bangklyn for what I would honestly say is the best Thai meal I’ve had in the city (better than Sripraphai), and Ollin for some very impressive cemitas
