Offering: Lightly furnished room in 2-br Bushwick apartment for $1200 a month for move-in after June 1st! Utilities range from about $150-$250 per person for ConEd, National Grid, and Optimum with bills being highest in the winter months due to heating costs. This is a month-to-month agreement with preference for folks that plan to stay 3-6 months at minimum not to exceed a year. No credit check required but roommate/landlord references and employment verification are a must. First month’s rent plus security must be paid upon move-in ($2400 total). No: couples or pets as there’s one awesome kitty already! She has been an only cat her entire life and is entering her senior years so I truly cannot make an exception for any other animals. Smoking/vaping is also not permitted inside the apartment (not 4/20 friendly). Accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible as the unit is located on the second floor of a 3-story building and is up one flight of stairs with 15 steps and no elevator. Location: 6 blocks from the Halsey L (3 long, 3 short) and 9 blocks from Myrtle-Wyckoff L/M (3 long, 6 short). Right off the B60 and very close to the B26 and B52 bus lines. The Room: Comes furnished with a lightly used full-sized bed featuring an eco-friendly Keetsa mattress, Buffy comforter/duvet cover, mattress protector, and Crate & Barrel pillows and sheets on an IKEA frame. There’s also an IKEA dresser, unassembled bookcase, AC unit, rug, lamp and large closet with plenty of hangers. The room is not available unfurnished but there is some room for additional furniture such as a desk/chair/side table since it’s quite large (about 12 x 13 feet). The room is located in the back of the apartment and faces out to a serene scene of trees, birds, and shrubbery. IMPORTANT!!! The bedrooms share a wall and the floors and walls of the apartment are VERY THIN. It is crucial that whoever moves in is not a stomper (or door slammer)! There is already a rug pad below the rug to help with noise insulation as well as a hallway rug outside the bedroom. I would highly prefer that you wear house slippers to help avoid stomping, too. I have also been in solid communication with the upstairs and downstairs neighbors about noise throughout the years. I also sleep with white noise turned up high to help block things out so if you would be sensitive to that, this wouldn’t be a good fit. Amenities: Apartment is furnished with a fold-out futon, dining table, kitchen island, and sofa chairs! Kitchen also has an Instant Pot and food processor you’re welcome to use for vegan recipes! An extra pot and pan is available for you to cook with as well. About me: I’m a 36-year old queer vegan originally from the Bay Area who sells renewable energy and occasionally takes photos for work! I work about 4 days a week outside of the apartment and spend roughly as much time away from home as I do at home. I tend to work weekends and have most of my days off during the week. I am a longtime vegan who doesn’t smoke/drink and would highly prefer living with someone with similar habits. In my spare time I enjoy going to concerts, reading, cooking, trying new restaurants, and hanging with friends. I value direct communication and a stable/predictable home environment and hardly ever have anyone over. As a vegan of over 20 years, I strongly prefer to live with folks who will be cooking little to no animal products but have happily lived with omnivores who just didn’t cook much! About you: you’re friendly, value direct communication, don’t bring the party home, clean up after yourself, and love cats! You also think that not washing your hands after you go to the bathroom and wearing shoes around the house is gross. Ideally, I’d like to live with a fellow millennial around 30-40. COVID Safety: I am fully vaccinated/boosted and mask up on public transit/at concerts but still eat indoors at restaurants and don’t test regularly. At minimum I’d like for my roommate to also be fully boosted and also mask on transit/in large crowded spaces. If interested, please fill out this questionnaire: https://forms.gle/HPimmFmDsAFVTw5JA If I think we’d potentially be a good match, I will reach out about scheduling an in-person meeting! Look forward to hearing from you soon! submitted by /u/PenVsPaper to r/NYCroommates |
