Converting the Myrtle Rite-Aid into a community space?

Hey guys,

I’m a longtime lurker but I’ve never posted so I’m a lil shy.

RIP to that long-running Rite Aid on Myrtle-Wyckoff. The last few days it was open I genuinely felt sad that someone might take that magnificent building and waste its beautiful potential. So I thought, why not make this a community space?

The location seems like a perfect community meeting spot. I envision the space to be something multi-functional, maybe even having themes/seasons. Of course, it’s a community space so shares your visions.

For example, this space can host local vendors/artists/jewelers to sell their stuff, maybe even trade for other things. I think there can be a cafe where the pharmacy were and tables for studying/tutoring. A space that can serve as a third space for people to just hang out. Also, imagining the wonderful conversations and care that can be exchanged between the immigrant population and newer folks. I’m sure both groups have the same feelings regarding that ugly *** Burlington

Someone mentioned a performance art space as well and I feel like shows there would be magical fr.

I’ve always felt Ridgewood was akin to a Halloween town and idkkkk, we can host like a Halloween party and have Balls and Spring Fairs it’ll be cuteeee

Also to the person suggesting Trader Joe’s:

I don’t know if I can win against that one lol but we can just move that to the Burlington space 🥺

So yeah, let me know how you guys feel about that idea. What ideas you might think best for a community center. If ya even want it.

Seems like a huge undertaking but if the people here want it, I’m sure it can be done.

Even if we can only afford two days of rent lmao, eff it we ball
