An opportunity opened up for me to join a lease on a $2525 ($850 per room) 3 br 1 bath apartment in Ridgewood/Bushwick off the Myrtle – Wyckoff Avs stop. The area seems kinda cool, but there aren’t really any parks nearby, which makes me sad.
I’m the kind of person who likes to go for walks almost everyday in the park where I currently live (Ft Tryon Park, Washington Heights), and overall it seems like a big plus to be able to decompress among the trees. So I’m not sure I’d enjoy living in a place that’s just buildings end to end. Should I reject this offer and wait for a room to come along in a neighborhood with easier access to a park, like PLG or Flatbush? Or can I not afford to be that picky with my budget being only $1000? It’s for me to decide of course, but I would like to hear your thoughts.
Additional context is that my roommates in Bushwick would be “good people,” who I know are clean & quiet (like me), and maybe share some of my interests.
Also my commute would probably be shorter shorter living in Bushwick than living in the area around Prospect Park…
Unsure if living in Bushwick would be me settling or just being pragmatic given the limited choices available to me…
