Parking tips for Sunday Songwriter’s Open Mic Every Week at Lucinda’s at Lucinda’s (New York 02/15)

hey everyone, if you are heading to the sunday songwriter open mic at lucinda’s on 02/15, you probably know that parking in this part of bushwick and ridgewood can be a total headache. the area around menahan street gets packed really quickly on the weekends with locals and people grabbing food or coffee in the afternoon.

before you spend an hour circling the block, you should definitely check out Prked. it is an app where you can rent driveways or private spots right near lucinda’s for way cheaper than a garage. it lets you skip the usual traffic mess and usually puts you just a short walk away from the venue so you are not dragging your guitar or gear for ten blocks through the neighborhood.

honestly, since the open mic starts at 2:00 pm, you are hitting that peak sunday afternoon rush where everyone is out for brunch. street parking on menahan street and the surrounding blocks like st. nicholas ave or gates ave is pretty much a lottery. most of the spots are residential, and while you do not have to worry about alternate side parking on sundays, finding an empty space can take forever. if you do look for street parking, try heading further east toward the ridgewood side past wyckoff ave where it gets a tiny bit quieter, but even then it is hit or miss.

traffic around myrtle and wyckoff is always a bit of a crawl on the weekends, so give yourself at least twenty or thirty extra minutes if you are determined to find a free spot. there are not many commercial parking garages right next to the bar. the closest actual parking decks are usually a decent walk away near the hospital area or further down toward bushwick avenue. street parking is your primary free option but it is extremely competitive. watch out for fire hydrants and those yellow curb markings because the local enforcement is pretty active even on a sunday and they will ticket you fast. hope this helps and have a great set.
