Why doesn’t the Z run on the middle track between Myrtle-Wyckoff and Broadway Junction?

I’m all on board with getting rid of the Z. It doesn’t seem fast enough to warrant the hurting the J’s frequency, but if it ran express here it might actually make it worth it. If these stations are too popular to be skipped wouldn’t it make sense to just get rid of the Z for better J service?

Bonus question: what’s the difference between the Z and skip stop J?
