NIBLET UPDATE

Hi neighbors! Our sweet Niblet has still not found his way back to us. Rainy, colder days are especially hard 🥺, though much better than when it was actually still freezing at night! I like to think he’s enjoying the warm, sunny days, at least 🙏 He has most likely found some regular food sources by now. I know people who think they’ve seen him have been leaving food out 🥹

On that note, I want to thank everyone who’s reached out. So many neighbors have been so lovely & helpful. We’ve gotten a lot of texts & calls from a few blocks away, in BedStuy. This would mean he crossed Broadway at some point.

Most of the possible sightings have been from Quincy to Greene Ave, between Patchen & Malcolm X, and one recently as far as Lewis, which would mean he’s really turned around, and going farther in the wrong direction. Also, there are several stray / mostly TNR’d brown striped cats in that area that folks might be seeing. Someone sent a pic we thought was him – same face & was squinting his right eye – but it’s now been confirmed to be another cat with two working eyes (if anyone else is missing a brown tabby, there are two being fed in that area that might be yours!). That kind of knocked me back for the past week. But I’m getting back out there! Going to broaden the search area & put up more fliers we had made.

Another wonderful neighbor who feeds cats on Lafayette between Bushwick & Broadway thinks she may have seen him.

The scary truth is, though, he could have gone in any direction, and after researching the link below & talking to many people who were reunited with their cats after 3 months, 7 months, even longer – usually half a mile from home – he could be anywhere between the Myrtle-Wyckoff, Halsey, Gates Ave & Kosciusko train stops, or deeper into BedStuy. Please don’t stop keeping a lookout.

At least 3 people have confirmed seeing a brown tiger with a white/clouded right eye. *** This is what to look for if you’re able to get a close enough look *** He also has a baby face – he maintained some of his kitten-ness in that way 💙

So, a thank you to everyone continuing to look out. At this point, most likely it will take someone consistently feeding him & keeping him in the same place long enough for us to trap him. I have a trap, so if this does come to happen, hopefully we can work together. We’ll try to be as little a nuisance as possible.

Hopefully the pictures here will be helpful. Also to note – aside from the CLOUDY, WHITE RIGHT EYE, he is ALL brown & tan. NO WHITE FUR on his chest or feet, etc. Just a little lighter under his chin.

*** If anyone knows feeders & feeding areas in these neighborhoods – PLEASE share the info! Some of our leads have been around St. John’s Bread & Life Church on Lexington Ave, and Holy Trinity Universal near Quincy & X ***
