Seeking *updated* recommendations – Not Completely Shitty storage unit locations in Brooklyn

Hey everyone,
Checked most of the posts that come up for ‘storage,’ ‘storage unit’ and self storage,’ but most are several years old. The ones that are several months old had very few responses, or were for very specific use cases (unit to hold 2 suitcases, locker sized unit.)

Wondering if anyone can weigh in on positive storage unit experiences? I’m willing to pay more for a less shitty end result. The sublet I landed at is up at the end of the month, and I’m traveling abroad for a month instead of finding sometihng else, so figured storage vs paying for a month in a room I won’t be using is more feasible. It will be a ‘room sized’ unit – likely a little smaller than 10 x 10. A mattress, ~10 boxes, but a few high price items as well.

Regardless of location (anywhere in Brooklyn, Ridgewood or Queens), a good chunk of different companies’ reviews mention: filth from pests and vermin, very lax approaches to burglarly, mildew/molding. I know it seems par for the course due to being in a major city/being in high traffic neighborhoods (Broadway Ave, Atlantic Ave, Wyckoff Ave vs locations way further up and out like Kew Gardens, for example) but if there’s anything I can do to avoid coming back a month from now to a completely emptied out/covered in mice poop unit, I’d like to be able to say I tried.
