BK neighborhood/rent advice – out of state-er

Hi, I’ll be moving from out of state to BK in August.

I’ll be working at Wyckoff Medical Center as well as Brooklyn Hospital Center (I’m a med student so different schedule depending on the month). I’m a woman in my late 20s and at this stage of my life going out is not the priority. My budget is 2500-3000/month. I am looking for a dog friendly place with in unit laundry and a private outdoor area.

• It looks like most places on Zillow/Street Easy are available immediately – are there other platforms I should use without getting charged a broker’s fee?
• I have 2 small dogs so I am looking for a place with a small outdoor area, I am thinking Bushwick may be the most convenient place. Am also considering Ridgewood. Thoughts on going further East?
• I am considering a roommate but because of the dogs I am not banking on that working out, regardless, how do people find roommates in BK?

Any gratuitous advice you are willing to share with someone moving to BK for the first time is totally encouraged!
